Congratulations indeed. But to be precise, it was not "California" that legalized gay marriage, it was the Supreme Court of California. "California", or at least the people of California, banned gay marriage a little bit ago when they passed a popular initiative forbidding it.

And yeah, CA passed that initiative, but it was only statute , not a CA constitutional amendment, so it still has to not be repugnant to the CA constitution, which it most certainly is.
